The Manuel Noriega Drug Trial (1991)
Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega was the first foreign head of state to face criminal charges in an American court of law. Noriega was convicted on charges of drug trafficking, racketeering, and money laundering and sentenced to 40 years in prison. Before completing his sentence, however, he was extradited back to Panama in 2011, where he died in 2017.
